About Us: The Atlanta Chapter

The Atlanta Chapter was chartered in June 2009.
The Black Jewels Ladies golf Association encouranges women of color to develop healthy personal relationships through programs that are focused around the game of golf.

We love Chateau Elan Winery & Golf Resort. Here we are getting ready to go outside and play 8 holes of night golf. The cocktails have been served and now it is up to us to play good golf in the dark with only glow balls and glowing flag sticks.
It's early morining at Chateau Elan and breakfast is about to be served.  We had a long night of fun at the resort. When we go on these group outtings we really enjoy each others company and always make new friends.

The Black Jewels had a great first year. We did a lot of exciting things together. The Jewels did everything  from having an old school party hosting golf clinics, night time Jazz outting @ The High Museum, Play & Stay date @ Chateau Elan, and even had an Holiday celebration @ Sambuca's Dinner Club.
We had a great time as a new ladies golf association in Atlanta. Our founder Rasheena Wilson was equally excited about the great things we did this year and presented us with the Chapter of The Year Award on our anniversary weekend celebration @ Chateau Elan.

Mentoring Program: MetroBots

The MetroBots had a field trip to Bodies: The Exhibition to do research for their display project. The display project is for the First Lego League Body Forward 2010 Challenge.
The MetroBots also visited the Emory Spine Center:Atlanta Prosthetic & Orthotics to better understand how prostheses are made for amputees.
We assembled in the waiting area to get ready for tour of the facilities.
Just another working Sunday @ the Martial Arts Center where we meet each Sunday from 2:30-6:00pm. The design team has a lot of work to do on the robot and on assembling the practice field.

MetroBots is our outreach mentoring program that was chartered in January 2010 under the National Society of Black Engineers Jr chapter to provide young golfers ages 9-17yrs hands-on knowledge and skills in the area of science, technology and engineering as it relates to the world around them.

Wine Tasting Meet & Greet @ The Grape Atlantic Station

Wine Tasting Meet and Greet with The Black Jewels Ladies Golf Association @ The Grape at Atlantic Station was a fantastic event. Our wine presenter Clinton spent about three hours with us. The wines we sampled where from Chile.
This Wine Tasting event was bigger than we had expected. There were thirty in our group which filled the entire room. When we started at five o'clock our tables were not together, but separated in groups of fours. As we all know, the Atlanta chapter is a together group. We love to connect with each other, so pulling the tables together to enjoy each others company was what we did. We socialized for three hours and had great food and sampled great wines from Chile.
Before we ended our event, I had to thank all of our members for participating.  I thanked our guest for joining us and extended an invitation to ladies who might have an interest in becoming a member of the Black Jewels.

Golf Clinic @ John A. White Golf Course

The BJLGA-ATL hosted a free golf clinic @ John A. White Golf Course in Atlanta. We had twenty participants that enjoyed a full hour of beginner instructions from PGA Class A certified instructor William Lewis.
These participants were given golf instructions that covered, golf swing techniques, short game basics, putting and sand bunker approaches.
Coach Lewis had to explain different golf grips to some members and participants.  We are always taking more golf lesson to improve our playing skills. We also like to socialize a great deal. That's what golf is all about....Fun & Socialization!

Meet And Greet @ Crystal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Hampton

Play 9 , Meet & Greet @ Crystal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Hampton was a big success. We had twenty-three playesr both women and men playing 9 holes of golf on a LPGA  course. Tee Time was 8:30am and we played a Ft Lauderdale Scramble Format. Look @ our eager participants.  They are ready to get started.
After Playing 9 holes of golf.  We met in the clubhouse to have fun with our members and guest participants.  The food was great and our socializing was even better.  What a great Sunday morning!:-)
